Directors Laboratory (Ask | Believe | Receive)
Start the year by expanding your directing techniques. In this interactive workshop, participants will get a glimpse of leading directors from Latin America and the USA by learning the dynamic techniques they use to direct and create new work. This workshop will help directors lead a collaborative creative process.
Participants in the workshop will investigate the work of three contemporary directors: • Ramon Griffero (Chile), • Richard Schechener (USA) • Anne Bogart (USA) While exploring through discussion, practice, research, reading and writing. Information must be received by Friday February 19, 2010. Instructor Martin Balmaceda has worked with many distinguished playwrights and directors such as Ramón Griffero, Marco Antonio De La Parra, Jorge Ali Triana, Juan Radrigan, and Rene Buch among others. He has directed at Northwenster University, New School University, SEA, Teatro IATI and LaMicro Theater. In 2005 he became an alumnus of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab. Recently Martín directed El continente negro, during Teatro IATI’s 40th Anniversary. In addition, he is pleased to facilitate this year Teatro IATI’s Laboratorio de Directores with such a talented group of artists for the past two years.
